Let’s face it, everybody loves a freebie. Driving traffic to your blog or website through excellent SEO management is brilliant and you can learn more about it here, but when you add paid ad campaigns into the mix, it’s even better. The good side to all this is that paid ad campaigns don’t have to cost you a fortune either , so for companies on a small budget for marketing purposes, this should be good news.

However, before we get into the benefits of running a paid ad campaign to drive traffic to your gym’s website, we need to learn exactly what are paid campaigns? Well, to put it simply, paid ad campaigns are online advertising where you bid to participate in auctions to show your ads on a specific platform. Then, every time somebody clicks on your ad on said platform, the company who put down the bid pays a certain fee – this is also known as Pay Per Click or PPC. A good article to explain how this works further can be found by clicking here.

The main thing you need to know about paid ad campaigns are the benefits.

1.      Much quicker than SEO, in fact it’s instant.

2.      PPC is easy to measure through free Google tools such as Google Analytics.

3.      Whilst “traditional” paid advertising has a set price, with PPC, you set the price – which means more control and flexibility when it comes to your budget.

4.      With PPC you can target a certain cohort of people – your target market.

5.      Your reach is larger and your content is more visible.

Obviously, we also have some negatives when it comes to PPC.

1.      Trust is a big one – many people won’t click on a paid ad mainly because it does not equal quality. In this instance, that is where SEO comes in. Paid ads and SEO done well simultaneously could work wonders to drive traffic to your business.

2.      Due to PPC being available to anybody, this drives competition and makes it harder for you to stand out.

Overall, and much like the tools explained in previous blogs, paid ad campaigns are a no brainer and represent a great opportunity to drive more traffic to your service. But remember, what you put into your paid ad campaigns is what you get out of them. Some research and time will need to be put into this before you commit to it to get the most out of it.

  1. This is a great read on the benefits of paid Ad Campaigns. While people focus on the fact that SEO is free, it is often overlooked the amount of time it takes to be successful and show up on page 1 or 2 of search results. As we all know time is money. Google Ads and Social Media Ads can offer a great time saving way to appear higher in the search results especially if you are applying the same principles as you would in achieving results in SEO. This additional investment can even help your organic search results as you are driving more traffic to your website.

  2. Great list of benefits of using paid ads Oxana, what really shot out at me was the Trust aspect of paid Ads - I myself always scroll down to click on the first organic result on the search page. I have noticed actually when I am searching shopping websites such as LookFantastic, four or five ads pop up and their official website also is #1 on the organic search too. This is a good example of how SEO & Paid Ads work together. They are obviously doing it right!

  3. Loved how it's such a simple message - 'paid ads are instant'. You can be investing hours upon hours into SEO and still not reaching your target audience to the greatest extent you could be when using a paid ads campaign. PPC can also be great if you're a new business, when you're not established and you want eyes on your product or service quick a paid for ad campaign really could work wonders. You're right about the trust thing, I'm the first to admit I definitely shy away from paid ads, but, when looking at it with my marketing hat on these days I give some the benefit of a click, out of curiosity mostly! There's a clear space for a paid side to a campaign that can work in tandem with a well researched SEO strategy.

  4. You said it best, Oxana - everyone loves a freebie! I think this is why many businesses rule out paid ads: they think the costs will be astronomical. But with the ability to cap your monthly spending on ads, I think this is a great incentive for those small businesses worried about budgets to test out paid ads and see the success first hand. You're absolutely right though, paid ads and SEO used together is the strategy that you will see the most results from. And that's what marketing is all about, right? You've made some really great points for paid ads and I hope this encourages some small businesses to dip their toes in the water.

  5. Great blog post Oxana! SEO is great to an extent, it’s free but it’s not instant. That’s when paid ads come to the rescue! Being able to target a defined audience without breaking the bank seems like a no brainer! Good point about what you put into your paid ad campaigns is what you get out of them. Knowing exactly what you want in return and conducting some research beforehand will hopefully attract the right audience and boost the business’s sales.
